Males choose their breeding mates depending on the brightness of their feathers colors. Flamingo Feeding & Incubation Flamingos are known to mate during the rainy season. During these seasons, there is enough food to feed their chicks which are usually in large numbers. Like other birds, flamingos have internal fertilization and the eggs hatch after 30 days. During this period, both male and female take part in incubation and feeding.
