    Trip Itinerary

    Day 1: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport – Aberdare Country Club

    Arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta Airport and drive North through the fertile Central Highlands stopping at a coffee processing Cooperative and arriving at the Aberdare Country Club in time for lunch. Relaxation, dinner and overnight at the lodge.

    Day 2: Samburu Game Reserve

    Depart and drive north crossing the equator from the Southern to the Northern hemisphere to Samburu Game Reserve (320kms) and arrive at the camp in time for lunch before you depart for an afternoon game viewing and return back to the camp before sunset. Dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp.
    Samburu is a name of Masai origin ‘Samburr’ being a traditional leather bag for carrying honey and milk. The region is characterized by vast, open landscapes, dried riverbeds (depending on the season of the year) and red volcanic soil. Rock outcroppings contrast against the dense woodland vegetation along the banks of Ewaso Nyiro meaning ‘River of brown water’, the river that gives life to the reserve.The area is home to the famous Samburu people related who close relatives to the Masai people. Both have retained their age old cultural traditions.

    Day 3: Samburu Game Reserve

    Day spent searching for the Samburu five and observing the vast unspoiled scenery during morning and afternoon game drives. Samburu is renowned for its rare species of fauna known as the ‘Samburu five’. These five particular animals are usually only found north of the equator – the long-necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe which is characterized by its liver-colored geometric patches defined by narrow white lines, the Grevy’s zebra which is bigger than the common zebra and looks more like a horse, the beisaoryx with black horizontal stripe running across its lower flank and the Somali ostrich males which have blue-grey necks and thighs.

    Day 4: Aberdare National Park

    Depart after breakfast and drive to the Aberdares Country Club arriving in time for lunch, and afterwards transferred to the Ark Lodge. Built to resemble the Noah’s Ark it floats amid the forests of the Aberdare National Park. This is a magical corner, where there is close contact with the essence that tells of an unexplored Africa and where very often, the visitor may enjoy in solitary the beauty of it all. It has a water hole at its base that animals come to drink after licking the soil around the Ark which is full of minerals.

    Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park

    After an early breakfast drive to lake Nakuru National Park arriving in time for lunch and later in the afternoon enjoy a game drive enjoying the beautiful sceneries, vast vegetation and wild mammals in the park. Return back to the camp in the late afternoon for dinner.

    Day 6: Lake Nakuru National Park

    Enjoy an early morning game drive around the “Bird’s paradise park” enjoying the beautiful sceneries, vast vegetation and wild mammals in the park before returning to the lodge for breakfast. You will enjoy the wide ecological diversity and varied habitats that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the surrounding escarpment. It is ideal for bird watching, picnic and game drives. It also offers sanctuary to huge numbers of native African animals including waterbucks, warthogs, impalas, buffalo, Rothschild giraffes, elands, endangered black rhinos, white rhinos and, occasionally, leopards. Return back to the Lodge for lunch relax and later have an afternoon Game Drive. Dinner and Overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.

    Day 7: Maasai Mara National Reserve

    After breakfast, depart and drive to Lake Naivasha for a 1hr boat ride coming close to big groups of Hippo and thereafter continue driving south to Maasai Mara having your lunch box on the way. After crossing the gate, you will have a short Game drive enroute to Mara Fig Tree Camp for a late afternoon check in.

    Day 8: Maasai Mara National Reserve

    Day is spent in the Reserve, Kenya’s most popular game sanctuary with Game drives to suite your wishes. One can opt for a much recommended and very popular Hot Air balloon Safari experience that is followed by a full breakfast served on the open savannah accompanied by a bottle of Champagne at an extra cost.

    You will hunt for big game to be shot only through your camera lenses. Always looking out for the elusive “Big Five” i.e. Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, and the extremely rare and shy Black rhino and Leopard. Mara is also home to over 350 species of birds. It is also the home of the famed Masai people, a unique and popular tribe due to their long-preserved culture. Despite education, civilization and western cultural influences, the Maasai people have clung to their traditional way of life, making them a symbol of Kenyan culture. Optional visit at an extra cost to a Masai village, reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.

    Day 9: Nairobi

    Depart after breakfast arriving in time for lunch at Karen Blixen Coffee Garden before. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight to your chosen destination.
