Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi, Kenya

Arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where you will be met and transferred to the Tamarind Tree Hotel for overnight rest after your journey.

Day 2: Lake Nakuru National Park

Drive into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. After lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge, embark on an evening game drive in this famous bird and rhino sanctuary. Look out for flamingos, white and black rhinos, and Rothschild's giraffes. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Lake Nakuru – Maasai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, depart with a picnic lunch for the world-renowned Maasai Mara. Enjoy a game drive en route to Mara Fig Tree Camp. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 4: Maasai Mara National Reserve

Full day spent exploring the Mara with game drives. Search for the Big Five and witness the incredible concentration of wildlife. An optional hot air balloon safari and Maasai village visit are available at an extra cost. All meals and overnight at the camp.

Day 5: Maasai Mara – Fly to Entebbe, Uganda

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Entebbe, Uganda. Upon arrival, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel on the shores of Lake Victoria for an overnight stay.

Day 6: Entebbe – Kibale Forest National Park

A fascinating 6-7 hour drive through Uganda's lush landscapes and tea plantations to Kibale Forest National Park. If time permits, enjoy an evening visit to the Bigodi Swamp and community. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking – Queen Elizabeth NP

An early morning chimpanzee tracking experience in the dense rainforest of Kibale. This thrilling trek offers close encounters with our closest relatives. After lunch, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approx. 2 hrs) for an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 8: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Morning game drive on the Kasenyi Plains in search of lions, elephants, buffalo, and more. After lunch, embark on a spectacular boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a highlight for viewing hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 9: To Kigali, Rwanda

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Rwanda, through the beautiful Kigezi highlands. Arrive in the "land of a thousand hills," Kigali, for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 10: Kigali City Tour

A full-day city tour of one of Africa's cleanest capitals. The tour includes a visit to the poignant Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets, and other significant sites, offering deep insight into Rwanda's history and remarkable recovery. Dinner and overnight at Serena Hotel Kigali.

Day 11: Departure

Enjoy breakfast at your leisure before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of an incredible cross-border adventure.

Climate

  • Kenya (Mara/Nakuru): Warm days, cool nights. Afternoon showers possible.
  • Uganda (Kibale/Queen Elizabeth): Tropical. Warm and humid, with rain possible year-round.
  • Rwanda (Kigali): “Eternal Spring” – moderate temperatures due to high altitude. Can be cool in the evenings.

Visas & Documents:

  • Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay and have sufficient blank pages.

  • Visas: Check requirements for your nationality. The East African Tourist Visa (approx. $100) allows multiple entries between Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda and is highly recommended for this itinerary. Apply online in advance.

Health

  • Yellow Fever Certificate: Mandatory for entry into Uganda and Rwanda. You must carry your original certificate.
  • Malaria Prophylaxis: Essential for the entire safari. Consult your doctor.
  • Vaccinations: Recommended: Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Tetanus, Cholera.
